Photo Ops Sessions

Group Leaders

(open to the public)

Saturday hands-on sessions have worked well. Thus, the format will remain the same for the upcoming 2025–2026 season. The two hands-on sessions, scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, and Saturday, March 14, 2026, will run from 10:00 AM to 3 PM. This should give plenty of time for participants to photograph.

New this year: Photo Ops will have two special sessions. One will be photographing children and one will be photographing pets. Please note we are trying a Sunday to give those of you who work on Saturdays a chance to come. These are scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026 10-3 and Sunday, May 3, 2026 10-3.

Each session will provide a variety of photo opportunities for you to take advantage of. These can include blacklight, abstracts, painting with light, still life, and sometimes pet photography. A modest amount of self-starting instruction on concept, subject matter, equipment, and composition will be provided with hopes that you will then be able to take what you have learned and apply it to your own setups at home. More details of what you will find on each Photo Ops Day will be posted as the specific date approaches, so check back.

Try your hand and sharpen your skills at arranging tabletop creations. Multiple setups of various subject matter and techniques will be available. For some setups, tripod is recommended. Most setups are continuous light. A few might use electronic flash using Pocket Wizards. If using your camera in manual mode, help is available for flash or manual mode. Setups might include glassware, water drops, flowers, macro, creative, frozen flora, shooting thru a sphere and other subject matter, such as dark light or painting with light. A tripod and short telephoto lens or macro are all that is needed. A remote release might be helpful.

Come down and join us for a fun, hands-on photo shoot. Meet other photo club members on a smaller scale and hopefully get some new images for competition. If you would like to get more information, please email Barbara Rozavsky at barbphoto@mac.com
