The Greater Lynn Photographic Association is a group of photo-hobbyists dedicated to "teaching the craft of the camera and exploring the art of photography." The membership is a group of serious photographers ranging from young adults to retirees and from total beginners to a Pulitzer Prize winning professional, with most of us somewhere in between.
Membership is open to everyone, and neither a photographic portfolio, nor fancy camera equipment is required.
Beyond regular programming, GLPA members have a tradition of involvement with junior high, high school, and adults in local communities. Our membership also participates in several community projects each year such as food drives, photographing charity events, offering shelter/halfway house families the opportuity to have their photographs taken, and restoring antique images for the Historical Society.
All Monday night programs and workshop / discussion nights begin at 7:30 P.M. September through May. Doors open approximately at 6:45 P.M. We also meet on numerous other days and evenings for a variety of activities as diverse as instructional seminars and and Saturday night socials. Come early to chat or to browse our library. Guests are always welcome. For more information on what activities our club offers, click here.
Other highlights of our year may include a fall photo course open to the public, the member mini show, member showcases, field trips, instructional programs, print and projected image competitions, workshops, and the Great Halloween soiree, December holiday and June awards events.
Our members show their work at various locations throughout Massachusetts.
In 1997, GLPA purchased and remodeled an old school house. This facility is handicapped accessible with convenient off-street parking. Our membership's prints are displayed on the auditorium walls accenting by track lighting and rotated for each month's competition. We have a ceiling mounted digital projector with a 12' x 12' screen which are complemented by a quality sound system making viewing and listening a pleasure. Our auditorium is large enough for multiple model setups and seats 120. Our facilities also include a kitchen area and smaller meeting rooms.
We have recently installed an air purification system and a disinfection process using UVC lights.

As the accumulated donations go up, their plate is moved to the higher appropriate level.
