"Bird Photography-Insights & Inspiration-Sponsored in Part by Hunt's"
by Michael Milicia-MA
Monday, January 30, 7:30 PM

Our Speaker will present a selection of his bird images along with commentary intended to inform, entertain, and inspire. Using example photos, he will demonstrate the importance of things like head angle, catchlights, in-camera composition, knowing your subject, and being proactive in the field. The presentation will also include tips on camera settings and in-the-field workflow which can lead to better and more consistent images. The goal is to provide insight into the many different ingredients that must come together to create a compelling bird photography.

Our speaker is a Massachusetts-based wildlife photographer specializing in birds who began his professional photography career in 2005 after working 27 years as a Software Engineer. In 2011, he started offering classes and workshops and became affiliated with Shoot The Light Instructional Photographic Workshops, which is owned and operated by Canon Explorer of Light Charles Glatzer.

His work has been featured in numerous juried art fairs and exhibits throughout New England and has garnered top awards from the North American Nature Photography Association, Audubon Magazine, St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Birdphotographers.net, and Naturescapes.net. His publication credits include National Geographic Magazine, Audubon, Nature’s Best, National Wildlife Federation, Palm Press, Woodmansterne Publications, and the ABF Journal.

Mike’s passion for photography is rivaled only by his passion for teaching photography. His engineering background makes him especially adept at communicating complex subjects in a well organized, step by step manner that proves to be very effective for photography students at all levels.
